About SMIL

SMIL is a text-basd, non-proprietary XML format that combines media objects into a single coherent presentation. It defines markup for layout, animations, visual transitions, and media embedding, etc. In particular, a SMIL document may contain a set of timing relationships that define how media objects are to be presented alone or in concert with other media objects.
